Collaborative Projects
I use creative thinking and entrepreneurial energy to make a positive impact.
Expo
As a result of the death of a close friend on his motorcycle, I created a motorcycle safety expo for Fort Myers Harley Davidson. Connected with safety equipment vendors and first responders to set up demonstration booths and provide safety information. Worked with Fort Myers Harley Davidson management to develop sales and discounts for safety equipment. Secured live music and food vendors. Local council member attended and announced official recognition of "Motorcycle Safety Awareness Day".
Video
After meeting with Consolo, assistant Head Mistress of the Camp Kigali School in Kigali, Rwanda, I developed an idea to create a YouTube channel reading children's books. Camp Kigali School would be able to access the videos to watch, read, listen and learn English. A company in Canada, OverHead Pro, gifted me a $150 tripod help with the initiative. Partnered with Moves & Grooves to create several video of children reading books.
Workshop
Jim Bryson, founder of the Joseph School in Haiti, expressed a desire to establish and organize libraries in each classroom. I designed a simple classification system for the books, easy instructions for students and teachers to follow, and techniques for taking care of the books. I also designed the service project for Rotarians attending the Rotary Vision Trip to Haiti. After learning the difficulty of acquiring children's books in Haitian-Creole, I developed a fun creative writing workshop to facilitate with the teachers. The teachers would write stories in Haitian-Creole, and the students would illustrate them. Less than a week before we were scheduled to leave for Haiti, the trip was cancelled due to political unrest. However, the programs I developed are documented and ready to put into action as soon as we can return.
Roundtable
Out of a concern and interest for the future of transportation in the Nashville region, I developed a format for discussion groups. I found the participants, created the discussion questions, and secured a host location. This project is continuing throughout the region, and is a featured program for Nashville Community Education's summer series.
Career Speed Networking
In partnership with Moves & Grooves, created volunteer initiative to bring Rotarians into a middle school to talk about careers with students in small groups. Upon request, organized the same event at a second school.
A Day in the Life
Created partnership project with Mount Olive Historical Society, "A day in the life" and secured a grant to purchase, give away, and develop disposable cameras. Distributed cameras throughout the community, collected, curated, and displayed a photography exhibit during the annual Pickle Festival and library book sale.
